Court TV
Court TV is an American cable television network owned by Time Warner
and Liberty Media. Its programming includes programs, movies, news
(with editorial content) and simulcasts of trials, usually criminal
trials. Apart from having its own website, it also owns the website
The Smoking Gun, with special documents.
NYPD Blue
Courtroom Television Network, more popularly known as Court TV,
doesn't object to being a cable channel seen in nearly 80 million US
homes.
In addition to airing live footage from courtroom trials, the
network has expanded its schedule to include fictional dramas (NYPD
Blue, Profiler) and real-life procedural dramas (Forensic Files, The
System). The network also airs original films. All of the network's
on-air anchors are attorneys.
The channel was launched in 1991, and
the first trial it aired was of a Florida man who was acquitted of
killing his stepmother-in-law 20 years earlier.
Court TV's diverse schedule includes original documentaries, series
and specials, plus popular off-network series such as NYPD Blue,
Profiler and COPS. The network is also celebrated for its serious,
award-winning explorations of crucial social and judicial issues in
documentaries hosted by Al Roker, Martin Sheen, Andrea Thompson, ABC
News? Cynthia McFadden and others.
