Generally, the cheapest prices on Plasma TVs can be found through
online retailers. However, like most things, there are a few caveats
when buying a TV online: Be careful of great TV prices that have
extraordinarily high shipping and handling costs, or other hidden
costs like charging a few hundred dollars for a stand that is
included standard with the TV.

Online discount Plasma TV retailers
are very competitive. Normally, prices on most units will be within
a few hundred dollars. If you find a retailer that is offering
prices that seem exceptionally cheap, be sure you do your research
on the retailer before you buy.
Most Plasma TV manufacturers have
authorized dealers that they sell through. Some online retailers are
not authorized - they may have better prices in some cases, but
don't count on being able to return the unit if there is a problem,
and keep in mind that many manufacturers will NOT honour warranties
on TVs bought through unauthorized sellers.Make sure your online
retailer is authorized before buying from them.
Be very careful if
you are planning to purchase a TV through an auction site. Although
most auction sellers are honourable, and provide quick, courteous
service and shipment, there have been numerous reports in the press
of dishonest scam artists that have sold hundreds of TVs without
shipping any to customers, pocketing the customers money, and with
little recourse for the unfortunate buyer.
That said, there are many
great online retailers that offer competitive pricing, good service,
and quick order fulfilment.
