Buying Guide Rear Projection TV
Thinking of going big? Sure, you could buy a 63-inch plasma, but most
people who want to maintain a good credit rating will opt for a
rear-projection television (RPTV) instead.
These sets start at about
40 inches diagonal, and the majority of them support the
wide-screen, 16:9 aspect ratio and can accept high-definition
signals.
A rear projection TV has a projector that transmits the
picture, via a mirror, to the screen. A projection TV has
considerably less depth than an ordinary TV and therefore does not
require as much space.
There are also TV projectors that are
detached from the screen. In this case the size of the room and the
strength of the light are the only limitations as to how big the
picture can be.
