Blue Heelers is an Australian show
about country coppers, set in the fictional town of Mt Thomas in
Victoria.
Despite the fact that it is such a small town there are
always a rush of crimes which keep the police officers extremely
busy and the viewers more than adequately entertained!
Blue
Heelers follows the Australian tradition of police dramas set around
people living in the country. It has been enormously successful in
Australia and has also gained significant numbers of viewers in
Britain, Canada and New Zealand.
Blue Heelers focuses on the lives
of a group of coppers, both in and out of the police station and the
producers have sold the show to approximately 50 countries.
In a
plot turn that differs the show from many other dramas, the officers
in Mt Thomas have been mostly recruited from the city where their
views are challenged by the different values of the bush.
The
rookies challenge Senior Sergeant Tom Croydon's method and values
sometimes they end up right, sometimes they don't. John Wood has
described his character as a bit of a reactionary.
